Time to talk about some tech
Something something "best laid plans" or some junk like that...
I knew that there were two really, REALLY cool pieces of retro tech that I had purchased and would be coming "soon"... turns out they both arrived within 24 hours of each other. So naturally that means I've been head down testing to make sure the videos I want to make are ya know... good.
Epilogue SN Operator

First on the docket is the sequel to a sleeper hit in my retro backup system, the SN Operator. Made by Epilogue, the same team that created the GB Operator, this is going to be my go-to way of playing SNES games on my stream pc for now, but ONLY until I can finish my basement and keep the SNES setup full time.
This is also going to be how I start backing up things like my saves and the ROM files themselves.
First impressions, this thing is FANTASTIC! The build quality is top tier, the aesthetic is premium, and its got such a low profile that it just blends in to its surroundings.
Retro Remake SuperStation One

And then there's this gosh dang thing.
I am still so fresh to the world of FPGAs, with the Analogue Pocket being the only device I felt comfortable using for my Gameboy cartridge backlog. Until now.
Developed by Taki Udon and the Retro Remake team, the SuperStation One is, aesthetically, a Playstation One, but physically so much more. This thing... well, I can't really explain it without going into the nerdy bits.
So I will.
Quoting a segment from the video script, "the SuperStation One is built around a Cyclone V FPGA with 128 megabytes of BGA SDRAMand a 24-bit ADV7125 video DAC. It includes built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and an NFC reader". Does any of that make sense to you? If so, you should absolutely get one because this thing is a 50/10.
The only way it can get better is when the Super Dock gets shipped and I can start playing my physical games. Because I am jonesing for some Beyond the Beyond.
So what comes next?
If you've been watching my videos for long enough, or have read any blog posts before this one... I am getting to a point of critical mass when it comes to scripts that are finished compared to video projects I'm actively working on.
I am guilty and I don't care.
I SHOULD be starting work on things in the next week? Two weeks? Honest truth: things are slowing down for my wife's job, and she'll be off on summer break while I work. Meaning I will have a bit of extra time to record while the baby sleeps. So hopefully soon, you'll be seeing a video on my channel again!
